146 Recruits To Join RBAF

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 146 new military recruits will be joining the Royal Brunei Armed Forces after they had graduated from their military training for six months.

A ceremony to mark the Passing out parade for the 126th intake of male recruits was held yesterday morning at the Training Institute of The Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Penanjong Garrison in the Tutong District.

Guest of honour was Pengiran Dato Paduka Osman Bin Pg Hj Patra, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also present were the Commander of The Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awang Halbi Bin Hj Md Yussof, commanders within the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and other senior officials from The Ministry of Defence.

The new recruits wearing military uniforms marched in accompanied by music from the Royal Armed forces band. They were followed by the arrival of the officer receiving the Guard of Honour.

The passing out parade began with an inspection of the new recruits by Pengiran Dato Paduka Osman Bin Pg Hj Patra. This was followed by a march past.

Pengiran Dato Paduka Osman bin Pengiran Hj Patra highlighted the importance of the course the new recruits has undergone and their status in nation building and security.

He spoke of the importance of absorbing the values outlined by the Ministry of Defence, the high standard to ensure quality credibility and ability of the Royal Armed Forces to face future challenges, religious activities and humanitarian efforts abroad.

Their was a certificate and medal presentation for Recruit 17201 Mohamad Hariswany as overall best recruit, Recruit 17205 Mohamad Saiful Rizal as best marksmen in M16 A2, Recruit 17192 Mohd Sidek as Best Marksman in Heavy Barrel Automatic Rifle, Recruit 17223 Mohd Syahyani Irsyam for Best Physical Training and Recruit 13841 Corporal Md Rezal as best trainer.

In a separate ceremony at the officer's mess at the Penanjong Garrison, the Commander of The Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awang Halbi Bin Hj Md Yussof presented the insignias to four recruits promoted to officer cadets from the 126th intake.

They are Recruit 17109 Ali Hassan, Recruit 17110 Afizan, Recruit 17111 Ak Mohd Jeffrin and Recruit 17112 Mohamad Nooryasdie. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
