Organisers of the Borneo Cup Yachting Challenge (BCYC) 2005 are calling for more participants from the Sultanate to take part in the contest.

Malai Hashim bin Malai Hassan, an officer at the Labuan Tourism Action Council said at present there is only one team from Brunei Darussalam out of seven that have confirmed their participation.

The yacht race is scheduled to be flagged off in Labuan on April 18 and participating teams must reach the final destination in Miri.

Malai Hashim said the race will be participated by yachting teams in the region such as from Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.

He said BCYC has become well known to yachters and sailing enthusiasts in the region as a major sporting event.

There will also be post event packages on diving, jungle trekking, caves exploration, longhouse tours and jungle expedition.
