To bring about a society that
possesses the spirit of patriotism, development, determination, love
of work and education, work discipline and innovation, significant
efforts have been done to achieve all these prides.
In this respect, youths play the most
important part of the nation building process and the Department of
Youth and Sports through its Brunei-Muara Division had organised a
programme on 'Perkampongan Hijrah Belia' or Youth Hijrah Village at
the Youth Centre in the capital from March 20 to 23.
The event was the second one held in
a row during the first term school holiday this year since the
programme was introduced last year. The response from youths aged from
15 to 20 years from schools in the Brunei-Muara District was
encouraging.
The aim of the programme is to
commemorate the Hijrah event set by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and His
sacrifices in propagating Islamic teachings during His time.
It also hopes to boost the spirit of
cooperation among youths through their involvement in community and
welfare activities.
The programme also encourages youths
to learn in depth the knowledge of Fardhu Ain and Fardhu Kifayah as
well as Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.
Among the activities organised at the
Youth Hijrah Village were hoisting the national flag and singing the
national anthem every morning, physical exercise, night march,
attending briefings given by several government agencies, mass prayer
and outdoor activities.
