Some 300 congregants of the Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Mosque in Kampung Sungai Akar took part in the Monitoring and Tasmik Session of the 72 times Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 72nd birthday celebration. The event was organised by Kampung Sungai Akar Consultative Council with the cooperation of the mosque's takmir committee.
Present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, as the Patron of Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Mosque; and Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. More than 70 monitors comprising religious teachers and readers, were appointed to monitor every reader who were divided into 3 categories namely participants aged 41 years and above, youths aged between 18 and 40 years and children aged below 17 years.
The function ran concurrently with a special talk in conjunction with the Israk Mikraj celebration delivered by Pengiran Haji Abdul Basit bin Pengiran Haji Zaini, a guest speaker. The talk among other matters touched on the rewards of mass prayers, which signifies the religion's strength that is feared by the enemies of Islam. Also present was Awang Haji Kamaluddin bin Haji Bungsu, Permanent Secretary at the Department of Energy and Industry.
